I.                    Money

a.       Dues - $125

                                                               i.      All players must have dues paid by the first week on the course.

                                                             ii.      If payment is not received before the handicap round, then players are not eligible for prize money and will not be allowed to play until payment is received.

b.      Prize Money

                                                               i.      Prize money will be updated each week on the website (http://dougwolff.com/golf.html) for the weekly event as well as the game/games of the week.

1.      If no one hits fairway in long drive or hits the green on closest to the pin, then the game will be carried over to the next week.

                                                             ii.      Total prize money for the year will not be paid until the yearend banquet.

c.       Refunds –  b/c of economy

                                                               i.      Refunds will only be given if a player can find a replacement to play and pay for rest of the year.

                                                             ii.      Refunds would be prorated based weeks played by league.

II.                 Attendance

a.       All players are required to play every Tuesday.

                                                               i.      It is you and your team’s responsibility to notify the other team or an officer if you will not be playing.

                                                             ii.      If you are not going to make your scheduled tee time (check website weekly), then you must notify the other team or an officer so that we will be prepared and can schedule the other players to wait for you or play on without you.

b.      If one player from one team or each team cannot attend, then the match can still be played. The other player or players will have 2 weeks (1 week before and 1 week after original match) to make up the match with a player from another team. Scores will not count if you golf on you own or only with your partner.

c.       If both players from one team cannot attend, then the following applies:

                                                               i.      The opposing team must be notified before the match and a makeup date must be made (within 1 week before original match date or 1 week after original match date).

                                                             ii.      If there is no notification before the match, then the team that doesn’t attend will be disqualified and no makeup date can be scheduled.

                                                            iii.      Teams that make up a match will be able to win the weekly game, but they are not eligible for closest to the pin, long drive, or longest putt prize money.

                                                           iv.      The opposing team is not required to set a make up date and although unfair can force the other team to forfeit.

III.               Handicap

a.       Max Handicap – 22 strokes (3 strokes on the 4 hardest holes and 2 strokes on the 5 easiest holes)

b.      Calculation

                                                               i.      The handicap program we have uses the 6 best scores you’re your last 10 scores to calculate your current handicap.

IV.              Scoring

a.       Individual

                                                               i.      The individual point scoring is based on the sum of your net score for each hole and will ONLY include Modified Stableford points, which will be changed to the following:

Double bogey or higher = - 2 points

Bogey = - 1 point

Par = 0 points

Birdie = +2 points

Eagle = +5 points

Double eagle or lower = + 8 points

                                                             ii.      No points will be added for winning/splitting each hole against the other player. This will eliminate unfair scoring when opposing player/team is missing.

                                                            iii.      Individual Tie Breakers

1.      Tie break will be determined by a one hole playoff during the end of the year scramble. If one player is absent, then they will forfeit the match.

b.      Team

                                                               i.      6 total points can be scored for each match

1.      3 points are awarded to the team with the lowest combined net score (1.5 points are awarded to each team if tied).

2.      3 points are awarded to the team with the most holes won from head to head play (1.5 points are awarded to each team if tied).

                                                             ii.      Team  Tie Breakers

1.      If two teams are tied at the end of the year, tie break will be determined by most points from head to head matches.

2.      If two teams are still tied, then the tie break will be determined by lowest team score from one hole playoff during the end of the year scramble. If both players from one team are absent, then they will forfeit the match.

                                                            iii.      Ghost Team

1.      When an uneven number of teams are playing, then a ghost team is needed for the odd team to have a match.

2.      Playing the ghost team is an official match and 6 team points are available to win.

3.      The ghost team will score 1 stroke worse than your handicap for the 9 holes to reward shooting your handicap.

V.                 Pace of play

a.       In order to keep the pace as fast as possible, the double par rule is in effect.

                                                               i.      When a player reaches double the par for a hole, they must pick up their ball.

                                                             ii.      Their score will be twice the par for the hole plus 1 for picking up. Putting for the hole is recorded as a 3.

1.      Par 3 – score 7, minimum 3 putts

2.      Par 4 – score 9, minimum 3 putts

3.      Par 5 – score 11, minimum 3 putts

VI.              Rules

a.       U.S.G.A. rules govern all play unless modified by Cary Country Club.

b.      Distance will no longer be given for out of bounds. If you think your ball is lost out of bounds (defined by border fence or white stakes) hit a provisional ball, if you think your provisional is lost, then hit a second provisional ball. If you find your original ball, then you can pick up your provisional ball. If you use your provisional ball, then a stroke penalty should be added. If you use a provisional from the tee, then you are hitting your third shot.

                                                             ii.      If rain continues for 15-20 minutes and doesn’t look like it will clear, then make your way to clubhouse or shelter. If there is lightning in the area or the lightning sirens go off, then safely make your way to the clubhouse immediately. If there is lightning on the course, find a lightning shelter immediately. Do NOT hide under a tree. Do NOT leave until final decision is made or you will forfeit your match.
